 Poha- favourite indian breakfast

Poha is a popular Indian breakfast dish made from flattened rice. It is a quick and easy recipe that is light, nutritious, and delicious. Here's how you can make Poha at home:

Poha Reciepe

Ingredients:
- 1 cup flattened rice (poha)
- 1 medium-sized onion, finely chopped
- 1-2 green chilies, finely chopped (adjust according to your spice preference)
- 1/2 cup boiled and diced potatoes
- 1/4 cup peanuts
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 sprig of curry leaves
- A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 tablespoon oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
- Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions:

1. Rinse the flattened rice (poha) under running water in a sieve. Gently fluff it with your fingers while rinsing. Allow it to sit in the sieve for a few minutes to remove excess water.

2. In a pan, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Let them splutter.

3. Add the asafoetida and curry leaves, followed by chopped green chilies. Sauté for a minute.

4. Add the finely chopped onions and sauté until they turn translucent.

5. Mix in the boiled and diced potatoes and cook for a few minutes until they are slightly golden.

6. Add the turmeric powder and salt. Stir everything together to coat the vegetables.

7. Add the rinsed flattened rice (poha) to the pan and mix it gently with the vegetables. Cook on low heat for a few minutes until the poha is heated through and evenly coated with the spices.

8. In a separate small pan, dry roast the peanuts until they turn crispy. Add the roasted peanuts to the poha and mix well.

9. Turn off the heat and let the poha sit for a couple of minutes.

10. Garnish the Poha with freshly chopped coriander leaves.

11. Serve hot Poha with lemon wedges on the side. Squeeze the lemon over the Poha just before eating to add a tangy flavor.

Poha can be enjoyed as is, or you can pair it with a cup of hot chai (tea) for a classic Indian breakfast experience.
It's a versatile dish, and you can customize it by adding peas, grated carrots, or any other vegetables of your choice.
Enjoy this flavorful and comforting breakfast dish, which is loved by people of all ages across India!
